About Burrum Biodynamic Farm

Stephen and Tania Walter’s farm ‘Burrum’ is located just west of Marnoo in the Wimmera region.

The 1091 hectare property is in the Avon Richardson catchment, one of four river basins in the North Central Management Catchment Authority (NCMCA).

The farming environment is ‘Mediterranean’ and the average annual rain fall is 418mm. The average growing season rainfall (April-October) is 285mm.

Each year around 400 hectares on Burrum farm are planted with:
• French Green Lentils
• Red Lentils
• Spelt
• Oats
• Barley (stock feed and human consumption)
• Field Peas

Seed is saved from farm produce as it evolves and improves over time. Grain is stored in sealed silos with aeration fitted to keep grain cool for best shelf life.

The farm also produces Dohne Merino cross sheep with 20 micron wool and whether lambs which are sold to butchers in Melbourne.
